How Did I End Up In Maui? Lahaina Accommodations Tips and Experiences

Aloha World! Since this is the first blog article I'm writing for Lahaina Accommodations, I'd like to start with a little introduction because you might want to know a little bit about who is writing.

My name is Aimee. I've spent nearly 10 years on the island of Maui. I currently manage the Lahaina Bungalow with my childhood sweetheart, who I met on Maui when I was 8. I started a personal blog about a year ago and love social networking with people about Hawaii. I love the water, I love to eat, I love gardening, I love our home, I love life!

Aimee with her Maui dogs and friends, after a day of social media consulting and blog writing for Lahaina Accommodations.

Not a native, barely local, but feeling right at home here in Lahaina. I was born and raised in Tokyo for the first fifteen years of my life. We travelled to Maui for summer vacations since I was six. Being raised by a Korean mother and an American father, Hawaii was the natural place for a "hapa" child. Hapa means half, or part Pacific Islander or Asian descent - that's me!

Over the years, our family fell in love with the Aloha Spirit of Maui to the point that we spent not only our summer vacations, but our winter holidays and spring breaks in Maui too.

As an adult I traveled around the world, lived in Las Vegas and Tokyo, but didn't feel quite at home until I made the move to Maui. Falling back in love with a man from my youth, working with a family I've known for 20 years in Hawaii, and running a successful business from home with amazing pets in Maui!? What more could I possibly want, this is Paradise!

I will be writing about my experiences on Maui, things to do on Maui, moving to Maui, local events and all about my life at the Lahaina Bungalow. Hope you enjoy. I'm open to suggestions for any topic you want to hear about Lahaina! Please leave suggestions in the comments below. Aloha from Paradise!

I probably don't tell my "ending up on Maui" story often enough. After years of vacationing here and enjoying it so much, I decided early in the summer of 2008 to move here.

I had no plan; no idea of what line of work to do, no idea of where to live, and not knowing a single person. Suffice it to say that Maui has welcomed me with open arms as has its diverse population. I feel truly blessed to be living on Maui - in paradise.
